Famous Annual Kidshow Magic Auction

The Internationally Famous Annual Kidshow Magic Auction- Wednesday Night

One of our truly favorite events kicks off KIDabra Wednesday night expertly helmed by Gary Shelton with another consecutive appearance as our auctioneer.

The variety of stuff is amazing and the evening though long is funny and often raucous! So that your ready here's the important info to know: What kinds of items can I sell? Magic tricks and props that can be used to entertain a family or children’s audience are what we’re looking for. Also, books, original videos, dvd's, collectibles, magazines (suitable magazines are LaughMakers and Magigrams), anything relating to entertaining family audiences. (Inappropriate items, i.e. risque or dangerous props, will be rejected that evening.)

How many items can I sell?
Up to 8 items. All items should be pre-tagged with the name of the item, your name and you'll add your lot # once assigned. Inappropriate items will be rejected at our disgression.

I’m planning on selling, what should I do?
Auction items may be brought in beginning at 6:00 pm, Wednesday evening, and must be removed from the room that night after the auction, sold or not. We plan to make this event a lot of fun. Buyers can probably pick up some good deals and the sellers may even make a few $$ to spend in the dealers room. If you are selling for the first time, a general rule of thumb is that most items bring about 25% of their original value. Sometimes less, sometimes more. It just depends on its condition, current availability and if the right person is in the room who has to have it. This is not a shortcut to wealth and power, merely a wonderful evening where you clear out the things you don’t need and purchase some new treasures!

What's next?
You will receive a lot number/seller number when you check in that evening. We will draw numbers to see what order the lots are sold. Items are auctioned individually within each lot.

Auction Guidelines:
  1. There is no charge to attend, but you must be registered for the convention. This year to offer a family event, your spouse and children are invited to the auction. (Of course they may not buy or sell.)
  2. You may participate as a buyer and/or a seller.
  3. Auction will begin promptly at 7:00 pm. All items for sale should be brought in starting at 6:00. All items should be displayed by 6:30 pm. No items may be sold after they are brought into the room, except through the auctioneer. Please understand that once you bring your items in and place them out, you are responsible for them until they reach the buyers hands.
  4. To sell, you must have a number and have turned in your item list to Tami by 6:45 pm.
  5. All items should be in good working condition with instructions if possible, or be prepared to demonstrate how it works.
  6. All items must be in packages worth a minimum of $5.00 opening bid.
  7. All items must be labeled with the lot number.
  8. Minimum bid is $1.00, minimum raise is $1.00.
  9. 15% of all sales go to KIDabra to cover administrative costs of the evening. We will use the cash as you go system again this year. (Items are paid for as they are sold) CASH ONLY! NO CHECKS! NO CHARGE! NO EXCEPTIONS!
  10. Seller may bid on his own item to raise the price but he only has 2 bids per item. In the event he buys his own item, he still pays KIDabra the 15%.
  11. Seller may present identical items for sale once or twice. After the initial bid, all items will be sold at the same price.
  12. Minimum bids may be set. It is traditionally easier to start an item off from five dollars and let it work it’s way up and to use your 2 personal bids to raise the price. It’s often a turnoff to start an item off at it’s minimum bid.
  13. Items that have minimums and do not sell are not charged 15%.
  14. Sellers will pick up their monies at the registration desk on Thursday morning. Now let's have a great time!
