The New KIDabra Live Library Session DVD Ready for Release (Just in time as you're looking for ideas for your Summer shows) The Live KIDabra Library Session - RELEASE DATE 2/26/08! If you do Library Summer reading shows or you're looking for a reading routine to add to your school show or even your Birthday Party, then join a host of today's top library performers for a romp through some great routines with reading, books and some excellent fun! Library themes change from year to year, what remains a constant is the desire of libraries to attract tons of kids through their doors over the course of the summer and have them leave with a stack of books. The smart performer helps them achieve that goal on both fronts. Opening to the strains of an original song "Going to the Library" performed by David Hennig, the Session is hosted by the incomparable Steve Taylor, whose tips and stories of performing in libraries are worth many times the price of the DVD set. Featuring routines from Barry Mitchell, Ken Scott, Jim Kleefeld, Rick Hubbard, Julian Franklin, Bruce Amato and Chris Frings. Plus, hidden in plain sight, Rick Hubbard shares the actual finale of his own show that has taken him around the world and yes, into many libraries. Learn "The All Kazoo Band" to perform in your own show. Priceless! (The coolest part is you can do this anywhere, not just in libraries.) After the performances, go behind the scenes for explanations and then enjoy the bonus features of Steve and longtime library show pro Mark Daniel as they discuss set design ideas for the show and then join a round robin discussion by several of the top pros in the library market led by Ken Scott as they talk about the ins and outs of this unique venue. The KIDabra Live Sessions exist as fabulous idea generators to spark your imagination. Join many of today's top KIDshow and Family Entertainers sharing between them a wealth of routines and tips. The Sessions are designed not as shows to simply sit back and watch, but as brainstorming jam sessions. A performer with repeated and careful study will glean valuable info and tips. Above all enjoy and learn from different approaches and styles. Recorded live at The KIDabra Conference 2007, this 2 DVD Set is only $45.00 postpaid in the US and Canada. The Year of the Creative
The Live KIDabra Pre-School Session
Jim Kleefeld: Creativity Shows Jim Kleefeld will be a part of the Kidabra team again this year with a new lecture entitled “Creativity Shows.” Jim will teach you how to create new and original tricks by transforming ones you already know. Do you want to expand your client list? Do you want to do more shows and get more bookings? One of the secrets is to create a new theme show every year. If you have a new show each year, you can return to the same clients year after year. But how do you go about it? Well, the good news is that you do not have to buy all new tricks. You can use your computer and some simple household materials to easily build new tricks based on ones you already own. Add a little paint, glue and imagination, and you can have new tricks that fit a new theme every year. Turn those old routines that have worked for you in the past into new routines that are exciting and different with patter and scripting. Jim will be showing and discussing tons of tricks. You will see many different ways to alter your tricks to fit a theme. Find out how he has managed to create over 30 different original theme shows, and why he gets booked over and over again into the same venues year after year. Learn where to get artwork, how to redesign props and what to customize in your act. Learn how to be creative with your shows and you will have principals and librarians saying, “Wow! Your creativity really shows!” We're very excited to have Jim with us this year, he is consistently one of the top ideas guys around. The Music Road Hotel Complex hosts KIDabra Conference 2008 For 2008 the Conference return to Pigeon Forge and the Music Road Hotel. Great rooms, on property water parks- pools, indoor and outdoor, water slides, lazy river and more, coupled with an excellent free continental breakfast each morning make for a great whole family treat. Melanie Michaels from Australia and John Reid from Long Island both say the Music Road is like going to a retreat. We'll be housed in both the Music Road Hotel and the Inn with the conference center between. The Inn is only a few steps further from the free standing conference center, the Hotel is best if you have special needs, also half of the rooms at the Hotel overlook the river. If the whole family is coming pick the inn for the most water activities, although no matter which building you're in you have full access. The complex is located at Traffic light 1 in Pigeon Forge in a quiet cul de sac just off the main drag, turn at the Ruby Tuesday's Restaurant. Surrounding it for a mile in every direction are restaurants to please every taste and that huge Wal-Mart in Sevierville is only 4 or 5 minutes drive, not to mention every outlet store known to man. With over 5,000 posts it is amazing! The depth of subjects there and the valuable info, make it priceless, check it out today at www.KIDabra.org We can't wait to see you next August or at your local KI Chapter meeting! Mark & Tami Daniel A Note for all KI Chapters, current and prospective: Do invite new folks to attend a couple of times, with no obligations. After those initial
visits to become a member of your chapter they must first join KIDabra International, then your chapter. This makes your chapter healthy with a solid foundation. On meeting night, leave egos down the street. I know it's challenging, we're show folk after all. Put members to work with individual assignments each meeting. Ask them to do book reports, mini lectures, prop reviews, brag sessions, marketing minute, techniques of performance, refreshments, etc... Have a great time of fellowshipping, keep video presentations to 10 minutes or less and the business meeting outside of the general meeting. (usually prior to is best.) Be respectful of your pros in attendance, quizzing them about fees and bookings make them feel like hunted animals with vultures hovering overhead and scare them away! (Really! ) Above all keep it fun!
Check with Dennis Michael at Chapter 1 http://www.kidabra1.org to see how they do this meeting after meeting, run much like a mini KIDabra Conference. dennismichael@KIDbra1.org KI Journal Product Reviews Yes!
